Unconditional love

SanchezFamily — The love we have for a child is unconditional. It is something I can’t even fathom. I remember the first time I laid eyes on my first daughter. I broke down in tears, and all I could say was she is perfect. Never in my life have I experienced love so deep and pure. When you first become pregnant, everyone is ready to give unsolicited advice. But from experience, they don’t tell you how hard being a mother is. Personally, as I gained a part of me, I lost a part of me. I lost who I was. I was no longer Vanessa; I was just mom. Until recently, I’ve come to accept that being just a mom isn’t enough for me. And I know I’m not alone in this situation. Now that I’ve opened up about how hard it is to be a mom and how being just a mom isn’t fulfilling, I have had many moms open up and say they feel the same way. We are all on a different journey, but we’re on the journey together. I know it trips people out when I say I don’t like being a mother. Some ask me to repeat what I just said. Some think I’m joking. But let me be clear just because I don’t enjoy being a mother doesn’t take away from the love I have for my children.

I make it clear every day how much I love them. I embrace them, and I hug them, I cuddle them, I kiss on them. Every chance I get, I remind them how much love they are, how beautiful they are, how wonderfully and perfectly they’re made. So I will always make it clear to my children that I’m not too fond of the job, and I feel like I’m not good at it doesn’t take away my love for them.

Life isn’t perfect. We aren’t perfect. We keep working, keep progressing, keep pushing forward, live, learn, and love. I am incredibly passionate about love. Without love, you’re nothing.

So today, I encourage you to make time for something that you are passionate about and love, from taking a nap, spending time with your family, binge-watching your favorite show, making time for yourself or your family or your pets make time for love.
