Is it essential to have professional photographs with grandparents?
In my opinion, yes. It's important to be captured with loved ones because the sad truth is life is short. When it's our time to go, it's our time to go. Our memories fade over time. Without refreshing them, they'll disappear forever. An excellent way to keep the memory alive is by retelling stories and looking at physical photographs. When I look at our past pictures, I'm transported back in time.
I'm about to tell you why I make it my mission to encourage you all to make time to have your children and parents, even great grandparents, photographed together.
Ten years ago is when we buried my grandfather. We were extremely close, and he was so young at the time of his passing. It was a tragedy we weren't expecting. Months before this unexpected event, I happen to snap a selfie with my grandpa. (I used a point-and-shoot camera because, at this time, cellphone cameras weren't a thing.)
That is the last picture I took with my grandpa. I treasure the photograph and have it framed in my office. That day was like any other day, and I didn't know it would be the last time I'd capture ourselves together.
