Why being an in-home newborn photographer is important | Amarillo, Texas

Being an in-home newborn photographer is vital because I was in your shoes just a few years ago. Then, I was excited over the new life that I had just birthed a new baby into the world and was overwhelmed because I didn't know if I could juggle having two children. So now I am going to talk about how I got here. It all comes full circle.

Most photographers are "mom's with a camera." I am not that photographer. I started my photography journey because I wanted to be a cop and forensic photography interested me. So that is when I picked up the first camera. After a long conversation with my partner, we decided that I would work on photography and not get into the criminal field, so I started to focus on the technical side of photography.

I am a bit of a control freak so working on my craft is something I could control. But, do you know what I couldn't control? My body. We have been trying to conceive a baby for over two years with no luck at this point in life. I was living with Endometriosis and Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS). So I translate that to my body hates me, my hormones are out of control, and it is challenging to get pregnant. I see you, girl. It is painful to live with, but we do what we can to manage. Now listen, I am not a doctor. I am just going off what I can remember, and I remembered my Doctor telling me when I was diagnosed with PCOS, we could control the symptoms with hormonal birth, but since I am trying to conceive, we would have to go another route. So first, my Doctor recommended that I would have to lose weight............... wait for it. He said with PCOS. It isn't easy to lose weight because of hormones. But, oh, it gets better. So another way to help with the PCOS symptoms is to become pregnant. Eye roll, right?

So we did everything we could, and eventually, it worked, and the most annoying and cliche thing is we stopped trying and stopped worrying about having a baby except that we might never have children. Then boom, it happened I became pregnant with Mariea. I will detail my pregnancies another day. But, first, I am here to talk about the labor of my second gift, Sonya.

Our daughters are night and day, wholly opposite but perfect in every way. We planned on having a C-section since I had one with my first labor. Although having a C-section wasn't my first rodeo, it would be as smooth as my first, right? Wrong. The Anesthesiologist poked me over eight times with the long-ass epidural needle. Forty-five minutes and another anesthesiologist later, we were ready to start the procedure. Once Sonya was born, all I remember was being alone. I could hear the surgeon conversing with the nurse and staff as if I wasn't there. I felt vulnerable and isolated in a room full of strangers who were sewing me back together.

Five days later, I am home to recover and raise this sweet child of mine. Since she was my second, I already knew I wanted newborn photos. However, I didn't plan as I highly recommend because it will be one less thing you have to worry about when your baby is here.

TIP: Book your newborn session at the time you book your maternity session. Two birds one stone.

I had people ask when did you do your first in-home session?

My first in-home newborn session was three years ago. I remember it like it was yesterday. I was running a high fever from an infection, covered in hives. No worries, I wasn't contagious. My body was healing from delivering a baby while fighting infection and allergic reactions to a medication. If you haven't already connected the dots, my first in-home session was for my second daughter. I was miserable, and I didn't want to leave the house. At the same time, I knew how important it was to have those pictures of her, our new baby girl.

So you ask why I am so passionate about in-home newborn sessions. It'sIt's for YOU, mama. I know how uncomfortable it is after delivering a baby. I didn't travel the first six weeks after having our second except for Dr. visits. It was the best this decision. We all bond with our baby girl, including our family. It was the best. I don't expect you to travel either, that's why I come to you. It's already uncomfortable wearing an adult diaper image trying to change that while in a strange place. That's no longer an issue. You can change that diaper in your bathroom. Being in the comfort of your own home helps relieve the stress of the little things like germs, room temperature, space familiarity, and I like to say you can't be late if you're already at the location. You will save time by not having to load up your vehicle. It's challenging to load up Big Brother then add a newborn to its next level of stress. So I am here to tell you, so let's have a stress-free newborn session and book your in-home session today!
